Spada Codatronca Monza Images Spotted on Web

Spada Codatronca Monza Images Spotted on Web

Some images of the Spada Codatronca Monza boutique sports car have been spotted on the internet prior to its debut which will be done at this year’s Top Marques Monaco show.  This Codantronca car is actually a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 engine which is created for a low volume supercar. The creator is Erocle Spada. Spada already have some experience by working for Zagato, BMW, and IDEA institute before starting their own company, Spadaconcept.

The Codatronca as you see above is the first attempt from the company to make a supercar and they are using an aluminum spaceframe with magnesium engine cradle, complete with the Corvette engine that I have mentioned before. In order to bring the stuffs to be more interesting, Spada is adding twin superchargers. The initial horsepower is already awesome with 427, but now the total horsepower become 700 hp.

As the quote from AllCarIndex, this Codatronca Monza has a curb weight of 2,500 pound. That great engine with the light body is allowing the Monza to reach 60 mph in only three seconds with a top speed of 210 mph.

Hyundai Blue2 Fuel Cell Concept

Hyundai Blue2 Fuel Cell Concept

Hyundai has unveiled their new Blue2 fuel cell concept car at Seoul Motor Show this week. This is a vehicle which is touted to help the automaker to gain their leadership at FCEV market. However, it is still hard to say that the production of this Blue Square is on its way, but I think if Hyundai will release a fuel cell vehicle, then it should looks similar to this concept car.

Hyundai calls the exterior design of this Blue2 as the Intersected Flow with both innovative and dynamic design elements. Hyundai has done some exceptional production designs lately, but for this Blue2 case, I think it is good. It has an LED screen panels at the rear and front side to display the messages about the car’s condition. Like many new concept cars, the conventional door mirrors were replaced with cameras.

The interesting thing about this car is that the Blue2 will bring a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain which will deliver a total power of 120 horsepower to return 34.9 kilometers per liter, or pretty much similar with 82.1 miles per gallon. This car has a low rolling resistance tires and is using the extremely aerodynamic shape to reduce the drag force for adding the overall efficiency.

Chevrolet Mi-ray Concept Coming to Seoul Motor Show

Chevrolet Mi-ray Concept Coming to Seoul Motor Show

General Motors claims that their Mi-ray concept car as you see above, which debuts at Seoul Motor Show this week, is a tribute for the sports car heritage from Chevrolet. More specifically, GM said that this Mi-ray is a small and open car like the 1963 Monza SS. It is also light and purposeful like the 1962 Corvair Super Spyder. Whoever it looks like, the Mi-ray is a sharp little roadster.

For the powertrain of this car, GM is using a 15 kW electric motors which is planted into a 1.6 kWh lithium ion battery pack which will be charged with a regenerative braking. That electric motor is mostly used at the first acceleration of this car, but when the speed is high enough, the power will be switched to the 1.5 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine behind the cockpit. That power source is mated to the dual clutch transmission.

The most interesting thing is that this Mi-ray seems to be able to switch between rear and front wheel drive at the driver’s whim. The body of this car is mostly made of carbon fiber including the spoilers at all four corners. It was completed with the ambient lighting in the main character at both sides. Each rear fender also contains individual storage compartments.

2012 KIA Rio Confirmed For New York

2012 KIA Rio Confirmed For New York

This week, KIA is conducting an event in Phoenix, Arizona this week. The Korean automaker will be unveiling the 2012 KIA Rio sedan at the coming soon 2011 New York Auto Show. This four door version of KIA Rio will be the complement of the hatchback bodystyle that you have seen previously at the Geneva Motor Show.

There will be four engine options of the Rio which is available overseas with two gas and two diesel. For the United States, it seems like the 1.4 liter gasoline inline four engine will be available. That engine will provide you with 108 horsepower and 100 pound feet of torque which is planted to either six speed manual transmission or the four speed automatic transmission.

In this event, KIA is also said that the KV7 concept from Detroit Auto Show this year is the preview for their next generation of Sedona minivan. Unfortunately, KIA’s vice president for marketing, Michael Sprague said that it is still unclear on which element of the KV7 that will be brought into the next generation of Sedona. That concept itself was focusing to the more traditional conversion van setup than the family car like the current Sedona.

Hyundai Ending Their Vehicle Return Program

Hyundai Ending Their Vehicle Return Program

Starting from tomorrow, Hyundai will finally end their vehicle return program. For your information, this vehicle return program is allowing the Hyundai owners who were unexpectedly losing their income to return their Hyundai vehicle. This is a very interesting breakthrough when it was announced in January 2009 when the global credit crunch is getting higher.

According to the coming report from Inside Line, there were only 350 people who have taken the advantage of that program which is fell under the blanket of the Hyundai Assurance coverage package. While now the job market is slowly returning to the normal state and the economic condition is getting better, Hyundai feels that the vehicle return program has lose its usefulness today.

When the economy was coming to a worrying phase, American Hyundai has moved around 538,228 vehicles in last year. Although they are losing in the vehicle return program, this Korean automakers seems like going to continue the other programs which is still associated with Hyundai Assurance including the 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty and the five year roadside assistance plan.
